Introducing our Optimist High-Performance Clinic, a unique summer opportunity for young sailors to extend their on-water time and skills.

We’ve partnered with Pavlo Dontsov, a renowned Optimist coach widely recognised for his coaching expertise. He won the prestigious 2023 Seamaster Award at the Düsseldorf Boat Show for outstanding work with his Ukraine Optimist sailors.

Pavlo is an Optimist coach from the Ukraine and was the coach of last year’s top sailor, Sviatoslav Madonich. Under Pavlo’s guidance, his team has achieved top podium finishes in the most important international regattas.

Overview:
Join SailCoach’s Optimist High-Performance Clinic in August, a unique opportunity for Opti sailors to improve their skills. Coach Pavlo Dontsov leads this clinic, which takes place at SailCoach’s Valencia SailBase. This clinic offers sea breeze sailing conditions and, some would say, the best sailing conditions in the Mediterranean at this time of year.  With Winner Optimist boats and expert coaching, participants will gain valuable on-the-water experience to develop their speed, sailing techniques, and sail tuning. For parents, Valencia’s vibrant culture and scenic beauty provide plenty of opportunities for exploring and enjoying the city.

Objectives:
We understand that high performance comes from dedicated hours on the water. Our clinic aims to provide precisely that, with expert coaches guiding sailors to become smarter and faster Optimist sailors. Through on the water drills to improve boat handling, and focused racing training to develop their race strategy, with individual video analysis feedback further improving the learning experiences, this clinic will help equip participants with the skills and knowledge to excel.

Pre-Entry Experience:
This clinic is tailored for boys and girls aged 7 to 15 who have been racing for at least two years and are ready to embark on international competition or enhance their sailing skills for success on their national circuit.

The Program:

18th to 25th August 2024 (clinic days)
Each day starts with a group briefing at 10:00 hrs at the Real Club Nàutic de València dinghy base. Then, sailors will have a full day of training activities until 17:30 hrs. The specific training content may vary based on the weather and coach, but rest assured, every day will be packed with valuable learning experiences.

Booking Information:
We offer a comprehensive package price to participate in our Optimist High-Performance Clinic at SailCoach’s Valencia SailBase, located at the Real Club Nàutic de València, from the 17th (arrival day) to the 26th of August 2024 (departure day).

Given the challenging windy sailing conditions in Valencia, we have incorporated a rest day into the clinic to ensure participants can maintain their full attention and energy levels. This rest day is scheduled for 22nd August, providing a valuable break in the middle of the clinic.

The price includes an Optimist charter and our world-class coaching. Additional expenses are flights, accommodation, meals, and pocket money, which are not included.
