Join SailCoach’s Optimist High-Performance Clinic over the Summer, a unique opportunity for Opti sailors to improve their skills. This clinic will be led by top coaches in the class, and will take place at SailCoach’s Valencia SailBase.

With Winner Optimist charter boats and expert coaching, participants will gain valuable on-the-water experience to develop their speed, sailing techniques, and sail tuning, with sea breeze almost everyday. 

For parents, Valencia has a vibrant culture and scenic beauty providing plenty of opportunities for exploring and enjoying this beautiful city of Spain.

Lead Coach

We’ve partnered with Pavlo Dontsov, a renowned Optimist coach widely recognised for his coaching expertise. He won the prestigious 2023 Seamaster Award at the Düsseldorf Boat Show for outstanding work with his Ukraine Optimist sailors while also being responsible for a world champion sailor.

Pavlo is an Optimist coach from Ukraine living in Valencia and was the coach of last year’s top sailor, Sviatoslav Madonich. Under Pavlo’s guidance, his team has achieved top podium finishes in the most important international Optimist regattas.

The Objectives

We understand that high performance comes from dedicated hours on the water. Our clinic aims to provide precisely that, with expert coaches guiding sailors to become smarter and faster Optimist sailors. Through on the water drills to improve boat handling, and focused racing training to develop their race strategy, with individual video analysis feedback further improving the learning experiences, this clinic will help equip participants with the skills and knowledge to excel.

In this High-Performance Summer Camp, our focus will be:

• On-the-water drills to improve boat handling technique

• Racing training to help improve your race strategy

• Video analysis with targeted feedback

• Analysing the decision-making process during the regatta

• We will facilitate your learning and make that learning fun

Pre Entry Experience:

The focus group of this High-Performance Summer Camp is boys and girls aged 7 to 15 who have been racing for two years and are now ready to start competing internationally or would like to improve their sailing skills to do much better on their national sailing circuit.

Program:

6th of July 2026: (arrival day)

7th of July 2025:

Meet at SailCoach’s Valencia SailBase situated at the Plan B Restaurant, Real Club Nautico Valencia, at 10:30 hrs to pick up your charter boat and rig and be ready for a 12:00 hrs briefing on the days activities.

7th of July 2026 to 12th of July 2026: ( 6 training days)

The High-Performance Summer Clinic daily schedule will start each morning with a group briefing at 10:30hrs at SailCoach’s Valencia SailBase and finish at 17:00hrs.

13th of July  2026: (departure days)

At the end of the clinic, sailors are welcome to fly home on the evening of the 12th or the morning of the 13th of July.
